FULL MOON JAM 2025 SUMMER SEASON UPDATE

The first three Jams went very well, with lots of good energy! Unfortunately, our Foster Beach Jam on July 10th was canceled after 30 minutes due to lightning. We had hoped the storm would pass by, but, unfortunately, nature had other plans. Thankfully, we have two Jams, two safety trainings, and two Halloween parades coming up!

DEMOGRAPHIC SURVEY

The Full Moon Jam Foundation is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit arts organization that relies heavily on grants to host our annual events, like the Winter Workshops, the Full Moon Jams, and Fire Safety Trainings. These grants often request specifics on what our community engagement looks like. Data gathered by the demographic survey linked below will help us answer these questions in future grant applications, enabling us to keep our events free to attend, expand our Flow Arts educational programming, and better serve the needs of our community.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could take 5 minutes to complete the brief FMJ Demographic Survey:

We will be hosting a Jam at Rainbow Beach Park (3111 E 77th St) on Friday, August 8th, in South Shore. The Park District has requested that we continue our efforts to bring our events to new areas of the city in the interest of inclusivity, and this seemed like the perfect opportunity.

There will be two nearby parking lots, but as always, we recommend arriving early to find parking.

The final public Jam of the season will take place on Tuesday, September 8th in Palmisano Park. This event is also sponsored by the Chicago Park District's Night Out In The Park and is located in Bridgeport (the closest address is 919 W 29th St). It is a beautiful location, and we are excited to continue to bring our event to new areas of the city in the interest of inclusivity.

Street parking is located all around the park.

CONSENT CULTURE ROUNDTABLE - AUGUST 3rd

ree

FMJ is hosting a roundtable for all members of the community discussing how our event can best prioritize consent and safety at the August 3rd Reserve Jam at 4:00pm. Join board and community members for an open conversation surrounding how to build awareness of consent in the FMJ community and improve the board's reporting and response protocols. If you'd like to attend, please fill out the FIRE SAFETY TRAINING SIGN-UP FORM:

We are always interested in community members' insights and feedback about how to improve the safety of our events. Please share your thoughts about how we can best respond to incidents regarding discrimination and consent violations by filling out this survey

RESERVE JAM FIRE SAFETY TRAINING SIGN-UP

ree

Just a reminder that anyone interested in performing at the Full Moon Jams must take a Fire Safety Training and sign up in advance by filling out the form below.

IMPORTANT: If you HAVE NEVER performed at the Jams before, plan to perform with large/unique props, fire breath, or volunteer, you must first attend a fire safety training at one of the "Reserve Jams". The next ones will be held on Sunday, August 3rd, and Sunday, September 7th. Our Level 2 Training also provides valuable information on permitting, insurance, and guidance on performing professionally.

Please follow the link below for more information, and feel free to share this link with anyone you know who may be interested in performing with fire! Our community relies on everyone using best safety practices to grow and thrive, and we would love to share our knowledge and experience with everyone!

AcroCamp believes in the extraordinary power of human connection through physical artistry and trust. More than a place to learn AcroYoga, fire spinning, aerial circus arts, or acrobatics, AcroCamp is a portal to a wilder, deeper way of living, where nature ignites your spirit and community becomes your family. So, pack your enthusiasm, leave your worries behind, and experience the magic of AcroCamp.

With over 150 acres of hills and valleys, rustic cabins in the main camp, a lodge with a heartwarming stone hearth, and a modern kitchen, the venue is the kind of place you’d reminisce about with a nostalgic smile. But what truly sets us apart is the human connection. AcroCamp is not just a camp; it’s a community, handcrafted by you and for you. It’s where old friends reunite, and new friendships are born. A safe space to share your knowledge, learn from others, and, above all, to be your true self.

Whether you’re returning or discovering it for the first time, experience, connect, and create, just as it always has been.

PERFORMER SPOTLIGHT - MIKE TRAHEY

Mike Trahey (he/him)

I found the Full Moon Jam in 2006. Back then, it was a small gathering with 1 or maybe 2 spinners in the circle, and it was right along the lake. I started spinning glow sticks on shoe string in 1999 when I was in college. I saw fire spinning at a nightclub in 2005. I talked to the performers and went to their next show. I brought glow sticks and showed them what I could do. This guy named Nasu took me out in the alley and lit me up for the first time. After that, I was hooked.

The thing I love most about the jams is that there is so much positive energy at the event. There's just something amazing when everyone is ready to get outside, have a great time, and enjoy themselves.

I'll be teaching Level 2 fire safety training at the Reserve Jam on August 3rd and September 7th. I'll also be at the August 8th and September 8th Full Moon Jams.
